How Meditation Can Transform Your Life

One does not practise mediation to become a great meditator. We meditate to wake up and live, to become skilled at the art of living.” ~ Elizabeth Lesser

I never believed meditation was “the tool” to bring more clarity, happiness, connection and inner peace into my life.

I came to meditation when I was in a place of suffering and pain. My marriage had abruptly ended and I needed something to help me take back control of my life. I knew what meditation was but I had resisted it- until that moment. It seemed too simple.

Silence. Stillness. Breathe. Repeat daily.

That was almost ten years ago.

Meditation has truly transformed my life and it can help you feel happier, more empowered and energetic too. It is a simple but very powerful tool that can help you create the life you are dreaming of, and know you deserve.

If you have been thinking about meditating but still aren’t sure it’s for you, here are a few ways that research has shown meditation can enhance your life.

1.Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Meditation is incredibly effective at reducing stress and anxiety.

Studies have found that just four 20-minute meditation classes are enough to reduce anxiety by up to 39%.

2. A Healthier Body

One of the benefits of meditation is that it an easy and cost-effective way to improve your health. Studies have shown that meditators experience less pain, lower blood pressure and a strengthened immune system.

3. Increases Energy

As you learn to let go of the thoughts that keep you up at night, you will sleep deeper and wake up feeling more energized and refreshed.

4. Increased Clarity

Mediation provides you with a heightened sense of calm and a calm mind can think more clearly than a restless mind. Meditation has also been linked to better focus and concentration. When you are calm and focused you see things clearly and decision-making come easier.

5. Enhanced Creativity

Longing for more creative ideas? Meditation has been show to increase creativity by waking up the creative parts of your brain.

7. Makes You and Those Around You Happier

A regular meditation practise increases your positive emotions, self-awareness and acceptance, which all contribute to increasing your overall well being and joy. Add that meditation also improves empathy and increases compassion, and you have the ingredients for strengthening the relationships around you.

Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation. But don’t take my word for it. The only way you will see these results is to try it.

I invite you to stretch yourself by engaging in mediation for one week. Do a mini-challenge with yourself and schedule five minutes of meditation for seven days. I know it seems too easy.

Silence. Stillness. Breathe. Repeat daily.

But when you are still and reconnect to your breath and your inner world you rediscover your self. And you my dear, are really amazing!
