Things to Let Go of Before the New Year Begins
“The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.”~ Steve Maraboli
Many of us will set new year resolutions. It’s exciting to set new goals and take steps to make our dreams come true. But you can’t move forward with new goals until you let go of the things you no longer want in your life or that no longer serve you to the highest manner. Letting go of anything in life can be scary, but it can also be an incredible act of self-love.
Today make yourself a priority and find a quiet spot free from distractions. Light a candle and put on some relaxing music. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and ask yourself what things are holding you back from the happiness, peace, love, or financial freedom that you deserve and desire?
Write down everything that bubbles to the surface.
There may be unhealthy habits, negative thoughts, fears, or a toxic relationship you need to let go. Take time to explore where the blocks are that are limiting you from living your best life possible.
Making a conscious decision to leave behind what you don’t want to bring into the new year will allow you to direct your energy and focus on your new goals and protect them from being sabotaged.
It is not always easy to look back at the past. Don’t spend too long focusing on your mistakes. Instead try to be grateful for the lessons learned and then…let them go. This will help shift you into saying good bye to the past and hello to 2015.
When you are done with your list you can take one more step to free yourself from the past and close out the year.
Get rid of the list. Burn it. Shred it.
This simple ritual of letting go of the past, will make you feel freer, your heart lighter, and will create space in your life for all that you desire to come racing in.
Next year will be better than you can ever imagine!
Happy New Year.
With love and light,
