5 Ways to Move From Being Stuck to Being in the Flow
“I always wonder why birds choose to stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth, then I ask myself the same question.”~Harun Yahya
Have you ever felt really excited about life? Overflowing with energy, enthusiasm and so much focus, that it didn’t even feel like you were working? That’s being in the energy flow where everything is aligned and you feel alive!
If you aren’t in that energy flow now you may be feeling scattered or drained or have no desire to do anything. Even simple tasks may feel overwhelming. Maybe you just feel stuck with no idea how to move forward.
I know that feeling.
I’ve been feeling out of the flow- frustrated and overwhelmed with creating new coaching offerings, working for a charity and finishing the requirements for my speaking course. It all felt too much lately and I felt that resistance to work at any of it building.
When this resistance shows up it looks like avoidance of my daily work, and is a sign for me that I need to refocus and give myself some needed space. We all need to create space in our lives to nourish our body and mind and reconnect with that positive energy. Because when I am in the energy flow my life is filled with joy and optimism and I feel powerful, like I can do anything! And I want that! Don’t you?
Here are a few of the ways I create space in my life to nourish myself and reconnect with the joy and energy. You may find that one of them works for you.
1. Breathe Deep
When I get frazzled and start to feel anxious, a quick check with my breathing tells me that I am breathing too shallow. A couple of deep slow breaths in through my nose and out through my mouth and I can feel myself slowing down and refocusing.
2. Head into Nature
Turn off the phone and head outdoors. I find hiking in the local mountains the perfect remedy for feeling frazzled. The exercise reduces my stress and I instantly feel more peaceful with the sun, (and often the rain), on my face.
3. Stop the Energy Leaks
When I am feeling exhausted I have to take stock of where my energy is being spent. Often there are people, projects or commitments that are holding us back from where we want to be. Identify the energy leaks that are having the biggest effect on you and commit to clearing them out.
4. Get Out of Your Head
When I’m feeling defeated or overwhelmed and my inner critic is telling me that “I can’t move forward” I lie down and put one hand on my heart, the other on my belly and breathe deep. With each breath my thoughts soften and the inner critic loosens its grip on me. I then wait to hear the whispers of my heart encouraging me with the next steps.
5. Dance Party
Throw on your favourite tune and dance it out. In just a couple of minutes you’ll feel a shift of energy and attitude. Try this great tune by Oh Honey to get you moving.
We all get stuck at times in our life. But we always have a choice. We can stay there or move forward. Even one small imperfect step can get you moving forward.
You can do it!
